Job Description

Job Title: Program Manager – M.A.S.S. Support Network
Location: Hybrid
Reports To: Executive Director, M.A.S.S.

Purpose: 

One of the M.A.S.S. Strategic plan initiative states: “Build superintendent centered wrap-around support systems and programs that include relationships and collaboration with all allies and partners so superintendents are able to confront their challenges and lead their school districts.”

In response to this initiative, M.A.S.S. is initiating the “M.A.S.S. Superintendent Support Network” (MSSN) pilot program. MSSN is designed to provide both small group support (Tier II) for the 2025-2026 year along with individual support (Tier III), as needed. This Small Group Support Network is a safe space for a small group of superintendent colleagues, supported by peer sitting superintendents or recent retirees, to engage in open dialogue and exchange of ideas, concerns, and strategic thinking. 

The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (MASS) is seeking a dynamic and organized Program Manager to oversee and coordinate the MSSN. The MSSN Program Manager work will include partnering and planning with the professional development provider; coordinating training and small group support network meeting schedules; envisioning, planning, and coordinating for growth and improvement;  and  monitoring and communicating the annual budget. Some grant writing may take place in the future. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Coordination:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of the M.A.S.S. Support Network’s program.
    • Manage logistics and scheduling for professional learning events, training, workshops, webinars, and networking opportunities.
    • Coordinate facilitator recruitment, selection, and support efforts
    • Identify emerging needs among school superintendents and collaborate with M.A.S.S. to develop relevant resources and support structures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for program participants, ensuring timely communication and support.
    • Collaborate with professional development partners, district leaders, educational organizations, and policymakers to enhance program offerings.
    • Develop and distribute program-related communications, including newsletters, reports, and promotional materials.
    • Oversee participant recruitment efforts
  • Operational & Financial Management:
    • Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with funding requirements.
    • Coordinate grant applications and reporting for program-related funding.
    • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant engagement, and impact metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement & Evaluation:
    • Regularly assess program effectiveness through surveys, feedback, and data analysis.
    • Implement improvements based on evaluation findings to enhance program impact.
    • Stay informed about best practices in educational leadership support and integrate them into program offerings.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Recently retired superintendent preferred; flexibility in schedule to meet team needs.
  • Minimum of seven years experience as superintendent, preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in event planning, budget management, and grant writing is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.

Compensation

  • Hourly – estimated at 120 hours/$100 per hour in the course of a year.
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangement.
