GDRSD is Looking for an Educational Leader Who:

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience in multiple communication modes, including social media, and an ability to articulate the importance of inclusion and diversity to the broader community in Groton and Dunstable.

Manage Change Effectively. You bring and can draw from a strong track record in managing change with an understanding of the history and politics within an organization.

What You’ll Do:

As the Assistant Superintendent your responsibilities may be supplemented by the Superintendent and include:

Organizational Leadership: The Assistant Superintendent partners with the Superintendent to guide the district wide School Leadership Team (SLT) in cultivating a culture of continuous improvement focused on student learning preK-12, developing a shared vision, implementing district and school improvement goals, and ensuring professional growth for all educators through building effective professional learning communities & collaborative teams.

●       Ensure priorities and initiatives are aligned with GDRSD’s mission & vision through implementing collectively developed yearly district and school improvement plans.

●       Plan and facilitate bi-monthly SLT meetings with the superintendent focused on strengthening instructional leadership and deepening student learning across all schools.

●       Write and manage Title I and Title IIA grants to align to district strategy and improvement efforts

●       Works with the Superintendent and district business manager to successfully accomplish financial and budgetary priorities including meeting all timelines associated with the annual budget.

●       Attends all School Committee meetings, as well as CIAA subcommittee meetings to present on district curriculum, instruction, assessment, accountability and professional development as necessary.

Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning: The Assistant Superintendent builds instructional leadership capacity across the district: district & building leaders, faculty, and staff.  The Assistant Superintendent shall work with the Superintendent placing a primary focus on improving instruction and enhancing student learning through inclusive practices. The Assistant Superintendent promotes effective research-based practices for curriculum design, instruction, and professional development.

●       Regularly assesses the state of our district’s curriculum program, materials and instructional technology and develops curriculum cycles as appropriate to provide a comprehensive integrated curriculum.

●       Facilitate review and adoption of curriculum and instructional materials using a recently updated curriculum review process.

●       Create, plan, and/or schedule all district professional development offerings including in-service courses, graduate courses, half day sessions, book clubs, multi-part series, and others.

●       Walk-thru classrooms and share trends with admin about instructional strengths and areas where professional learning may increase inclusive practices.

●       Review all scope and sequence documents for alignment to standards if new standards are adopted.

●       Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws/regulations and provides professional development to the administrative team.

Data-Based Decision Making: The Assistant Superintendent shall assist in creating a district culture and expectations that support effective data-based decision making at all levels of the system. The Assistant Superintendent shall work with district and building administrators to identify, collect, analyze, and use relevant data to identify strengths to sustain and weaknesses to address.

●       Uses strategic initiatives and district performance data to identify appropriate professional development opportunities for staff within the district

●       Demonstrates understanding and appropriate use of performance measures established within the district in support of specific goals and initiatives

●       Monitors, oversees, and encourages the use of a variety of data to make curricular, staffing, and strategic planning decisions within the district

●       Design and deliver all school district presentations on academic data including MCAS, SAT, ACT, etc…

●       Plan and facilitate bi-monthly SLT meetings with superintendent focused on professional development and evidence-based leadership and fostering a data culture in the district

Additional District Leadership Responsibilities:

Serve as a member of the Central Office Team and the School Leadership Team.

Oversee the EdTech Department and Multilingual Departments.

Coordinate and manage research conducted in the District.

Assist with contract negotiations.

Develop district reports and required state and DESE reports (e.g. SOA Plan, DCAP).

All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Assessment and Data Analysis:

Coordinate and manage the District’s Assessment System, including universal screeners, early literacy assessment, formative and summative assessments, and MCAS.

Collaborate with district leaders to establish assessment strategies and data collection methods to evaluate student performance and program effectiveness.

Utilize assessment data to inform instructional decision-making and improve educational outcomes.

Assist in the creation of assessment reporting documents.

Educational Equity:

Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to ensure that all students have access to an equitable and inclusive education.

Work to close achievement gaps and provide opportunities for all students to succeed.

Collaborate and help facilitate the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (Advisory to the School Committee).

Stakeholder Engagement:

Foster positive relationships with parents, students, and the broader community to promote a shared vision for education.

Collaborate with parents and community organizations to strengthen educational partnerships.

Provide and maintain up to date website information about the District’s curriculum, instruction, and assessments, and the ways in which families and caregivers can engage in the learning process.

Qualifications

●       Experience working with young people and adults, ideally in a school setting

●       A minimum of 10 years of professional leadership experience in teaching, learning, curriculum and/or assessment

●       Training, experience, and familiarity with Anti-Bias/Equity scholarship and practices

●       Teaching and/or supervisory experience highly desirable

●       Grant writing and development preferred

●       Master’s Degree or higher

●       Possess a valid Massachusetts license for Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

●       Have demonstrated administrative leadership at the building level

●       Have demonstrated experience and skill in district and building operations and service

●       Have demonstrated experience and skill in supervision and evaluation of administrators

●       Have experience in elementary and secondary education

●       Have a proven track record in the improvement of teaching and learning within a school building

●       Have a proven track record in creating consensus among a variety of stakeholders

●       Have excellent written and oral communication skills

●       Have experience in the development and implementation of new schedules and programs

●       Strong competency within Google Workspace suite, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom and other industry standard software applications

●       Flexibility with work schedule as events and initiatives may require

Compensation

This is a 12-month, benefits-eligible position. Salary range is $160,000 to $170,000
