The Student Opportunity Act is legislation that will have a positive impact – directly or indirectly – on every child in Massachusetts. The bill, like any proposal, is not perfect, but it has gone through virtually every leadership committee at the state house and has broad legislative support. The bill is several years in the making and has received consensus from all corners of the state. It has been four years since the Foundation Budget Review Commission report was issued and identified major flaws in the way our state funds public education. We cannot allow this opportunity to escape us. The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents has and will continue to fight for what is best for all students and as such, strongly supports the Student Opportunity Act.
